Mentioning the un-mentionable | Week 32 | #52wonderfilledweeks

Image
Underwear, skivvies, underpants, panties, lingerie, briefs, etc...we don't talk about them but we all wear  them...or... ahem...we should  wear them! I rarely buy myself new "unmentionables", mostly because they're not seen in public so what's the big deal if they're less than new looking (or feeling)? But the fact is, as I have said many times before, when you look good you feel good and everyone can see that confidence, and this absolutely applies to your skivvies! When I was pregnant with Bubba I made one pair of undies, I admittedly used the wrong kind of fabric (not enough recovery) and used bamboo knit for the bands.  The end result was a comfortable fit but as the day grew longer...so did the briefs! I avoided making any new ones until I was done with Bubba in the baby stage.  I knew my body would be changing throughout the year I was nursing and I thought it pointless to spend the time, energy and money on something that may not fit well after a f...

And in lumberjack fashion, the BUBBA turns one! Week 17 | #52wonderfilledweeks

ONE! We made it, the Bubba is one years old as of yesterday! I am so sad my little big man (he entered the world at over 10 lbs) is getting so big so quick.  He walked for the first time yesterday! He can mimic sounds, laughs, climbs on anything and everything.  His personality is really starting to show and I just love watching him and his big sister.  She loves him so and has truly been a big helper both during my pregnancy and this first year. Always quick to help, grab a diaper, pick up the tossed water or toy.  She's been such a blessing.  I digress.... For my and my sister's first birthday my Mom made us this cute 3-D bear cake.  When P turned one she suggested we do the same for her, so we did and we iced it in "Care Bear" fashion.  For Bubba we vacillated on whether or not we'd have time to make it.  My Mom is in Alaska and was only able to fly out the day before Bubba's bday so we had little time to make the cake.  I decided we...

Easter Hearts | Week 12 | #52wonderfilledweeks

Image
A week or so ago I posted about how I knew it was going to be a good day because I woke up to one of my favorite fabric shops, Knitpop , offering these adorable hearts on the oh so soft (Lularoe buttery legging fabric) double brushed poly.  I snatched up several yards in white and black, rainbow and pink for a certain special little girl.  With Easter around the corner I knew I needed to make P a new dress (last year I made her this "Ariel" one and she wore it until her shoulders would not fit into it any more.  In an effort to dive into my pattern stash (yah I have one of those too....) I picked three different patterns and let the 4 year old choose which one she wanted.  Of course she not only choose Pattern for Pirates " Me Hearties " she was adamant that it have the sweetheart/color-blocked option.  This is a new one for me and while I was open to the challenge after the last week I was hoping for something quick.  I learned some new techniques, ...

M4M Mama Claire | Week 4 | #52wonderfilledweeks

Image
Wow, week 4! I can't believe I've made it thru the first month of my challenge! This week I was so productive in and out of the craft studio! I had three rehearsals and two concerts this week with the New Philharmonic.  We offered the Verdi classic, "La Traviata".  We have one more show today at 3pm and if you are in the area I HIGHLY suggest checking it out.  The singers are ah-mazing...and I don't say that lightly.  I just wish I could see something from my spot in the pit! HA! I made several things this week but I'll have to wait to share a few since they are off in the mail as birthday gifts.  I can't wait to show you them though because they are so easy I had my four year old help and the end product is pretty luxurious ;) What I can show you is the new top I made.  This is the Mama Claire from Made for Mermaids . I made my first earlier last fall when we were getting ready to see Bruno Mars in his 24K Magic tour. The Mama Claire is a two way do...
