Sequins, shoulders and a show! | This WONDERfilled Life

I wouldn’t say I’ve been in a creative funk…but I haven’t been as “prolific” as I thought I would be…especially since the music world has been a little slower than usual (or at least compared to my action-packed January/February) and considering the kids have been off of school for two weeks.   Did you catch that…my kids have been home with me, all day, every day, for TWO WEEKS!!! I had lists of cleaning, organizing, music making and creating that I just knew I would get done…then I remembered about taxes, my sisters memorial scholarship was due (Super and I are part of the panel that adjudicates applicants) oh and then there was the four days I was incapacitated due to the stomach flu – the horror that was our house with three out of four of us sick…well…I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. The reality is I did get somethings done…I got almost all of Bubba’s potty trainers cut out. I almost finished our taxes and I submitted my ranking for the scholarship this mor...

Out of the ashes and right back into the fire - embracing failure | This WONDERfilled Life

You can't see it in the photo but I know it's there...a giant mistake...and it took everything to a) wear my mistake b) not make a big deal out of it c) not point it out to everyone at the party... Let me first say that I have really missed my weekly deadline...and I may go back to my weekly posts just for my own sanity.  I loved having a deadline to use as an excuse to persevere through projects and make things happen.  I enjoyed the time to myself to write weekly.  Since Bubba started classes in January it's been a little more hectic.  We have only one day a week where there is nothing scheduled...unless I have a gig or rehearsal, which has totally been the case this year...so I guess if I am really thinking about it I haven't had a day off or TWO in a row in a while and maybe that's why I FEEL so stinking busy.  I haven't been writing as much but I actually HAVE been crafting...I hand crafted cards for birthdays and made decals as gifts...I made a ...

Christmas time is here! | Week 50 | #52wonderfilledweeks

Whoa...first...thanks to everyone who visited the site last week...the free tag download got over 1200 hits! That's amazing, and I am so happy I was able to help people out! This week was busy...so busy that I am again posting on a Monday...my first "day off" (as in I don't HAVE to be anywhere or PLAY anything) in the last 9 days.  It's definitely that "time of year" for a musician.  In the past 9 days I have had four rehearsals and 8 concerts...on top of the whole keep the kids alive and happy, prepare for Christmas visitors, finish gifts and package them to be mailed and keeping up with my practicing for some exciting things coming in the first part of the new year!  I'm feeling stretched pretty thin...and I am just looking toward the finish line  -  the end of the year for me.   This week I had planned on sewing up both the kids' Santa/Christmas outfits but with everything going on it was impossible.  HOWEVER, I was able to get P'...

Fall means cardigans! | Week 38 | #52wonderfilledweeks

Meteorological fall was this week and while we were pining for everything pumpkin, clove and cinnamon smelling we started the week with temperatures in the 90's (eye roll). Thankfully we ended the week in the mid to high 60's, much more fall appropriate, so I figured I might as well start on my fall "wardrobe".  I know with the par-tay coming I will get side tracked and next thing it will be winter and I will have missed the whole fall, light jacket, perfect cardigan, jeans weather.  If you remember just a few weeks ago I finally sewed up Patterns for Pirates' Cocoon Cardigan in the cropped version for my recital.  I made no changes to the pattern and I really liked it.  I used a more 'stable' fabric and I really wanted to see what something with more drape would produce since this cardigan is meant to be a slouchy, comfortable sweater.  I had this beautiful flower fabric in double brushed poly from Knitpop (of course) and thought I'd try the full v...
