Congratulations to Bubba | This WONDERfilled Life

I’m a pusher.  I don’t sit still.  I get involved.  A “do-bee” as Super likes to call me. Quite honestly I get stuff done.  I’ve struggled the past year or two with being involved with the kids’ school and various organizations and projects.  I took a step back this past year from specific organizations (PTA, Friends of, etc) but fought the urge to “jump in” many times! Old habits die hard!   When it came to Bubba graduating from Kindergarten I struggled even more.  When P was in Kindergarten the pandemic hit, so we didn’t get to experience any of the traditional Kindergarten “rites of passage” and because I swore off being a room parent with more than one other person (his class had like, 15?!?!?) I knew I would have to just sit back and watch some of the planning and event prep from the sideline.  But…I also knew I wanted to make it special for him in some way.  I remember being with Super at breakfast a few weeks before the Kindy celebrati...

The Family Mario - 2023 GLOW edition! | This WONDERfilled Life

At our school's Fall Fest, 2022.  We won the trunk or treat contest! It's been forever...again...I am so behind on life right now.  I know it "looks" like I have everything together and handled but I promise you that I am barely hanging on.  I thought when both kids went to school (at the same school) this past fall things would get easier and I'd have oodles of time to work and do things like clean, organize and write...and...it's freaking April and I've written and published ONE blog post and my to do list is growing longer by the day. So...let's catch up a bit on life and then I'll tell you all about the newest time suck over here. I have like ten different blog posts rolling around in my head...I think I may have to go back to my 2018 plan and just force myself to write an hour a week and call it.  I find that when I get stressed (and getting behind REALLY stresses me out) my perfectionism starts to rear it's ugly head again and when it com...

The Family MARIO… This WONDERfilled Life

Super and I joked often pre-pandemic about how life is just various stages of turning pages.  Thanks to COVID this current page turn in our life has moved…e…v…e…r… so … s…l…o…w…l…y.  But it IS happening, like, it’s mostly turned…I think I can even almost read the title of the next chapter…Not completely but pretty darn close. I don’t know if it’s just finally having both kids in the same place (i.e. summer camp) for the first time ever or if it’s the whole “I spent two plus years always having everyone around and catering to all their various needs, thank you global pandemic”…either way…I’ve been soaking in the past three weeks and the few hours I’ve had daily to just breathe and catch up on everything.  Take today, for example, I had about 50 minutes at home kid free after I got home from Rally classes with Zo, and I knocked out a major to do list that involved several phone calls, scheduling many doctor appointments, follow up emails, paying bills and ordering things fo...

Vivo! (And I don’t mean the tempo marking.) | This WONDERfilled Life

It’s fall 2021, and I can’t believe we’re still in this mess of a pandemic.  That aside, our lives have sort of resumed something that looks like our life pre-COVID.  Both kids are back in in-person school, and while Super is still teaching from home my orchestral/music work is picking up steadily, though with heavy health protocols (which I am totally okay with). So we thought we’d try and get our outdoor theater up and running, if only for one night and a tiny amount of guests.  Netflix’s animated film, VIVO , came out a few weeks ago and it’s been a HIT here, but then pretty much anything LMM (Lin-Manuel Miranda) does is a hit here…ask me about my current Hamilton obsession! Annnny ways…we decided to just hold a small backyard movie night, and you know I can’t just have people over for something like that.  I have to make it an experienced even just a little one.  Given more time, I had some MAJOR plans for the backyard, which included a kids “Mambo Cubana” C...
